Bubbles for Every Occasion | Top 10

Somebody may have told you that sparkling wines are only for the holidays or for special occasions. That person is not your friend, and you should definitely stop hanging out with them.

Now that you’ve gotten that negative energy out of your life, here’s a list of ten occasions for sparkling wine, and our recommendation to go with it.

You're On A Boat

If you’re anything like us, there’s a 100% chance you’ll find yourself on a raft on the river or a boat on a lake sometime this summer. Best to avoid glass containers in that case, so try 14 Hands Unicorn Bubbles in a can! It’s bright and fresh with flavors of strawberry and cranberry, and a crisp finish.

You Need A Gift

La Marca Prosecco is the #1 selling Prosecco in America, and with the newly released La Marca Prosecco Rosé, you have two options for a conveniently sized gift bottle. Both original La Marca Prosecco and La Marca Prosecco Rosé come in a convenient 187ml bottle, perfect for Bridesmaid gifts, party favors, or really any time you need some bubbles that fit in your pocket or purse.

You Have A Party To Go To

Speaking of La Marca Prosecco, it’s also available in a 1.5L bottle. Few better ways to show up in style to a party than with a great big bottle of bubbles.

You're Keeping It Northwest

Oregon and Washington have a number of excellent sparkling wine producers. We’d like to recommend Argyle Willamette Valley Brut. It’s made in the traditional method, carbonated in bottle, made of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and vintage dated, meaning it’s about as close as you can get to Champagne without actually being from the Champagne region of France.

You're Not Drinking

Even with so many occasions that warrant a bottle of bubbles, we all like to give our livers a break from time to time. Next time you’re on the wagon but still in the mood for bubbles, consider Freixenet Non-Alcoholic Brut.

You Heard California Makes Good Bubbles

Why yes, they do! The potential for quality sparkling wine production in California is recognized by a number of French Champagne producers. GH Mumm owns Mumm Napa, which produces several excellent sparkling wines in the traditional Champagne method. Both the Mumm Napa Brut and Mumm Napa Brut Rosé are excellent examples of California bubbles that won’t break the bank!

You Want To Know What "Real" Champagne is All About

If somebody interrupts to correct you when you call something Champagne, even though it isn’t from the Champagne region of France, that person is also not your friend and you shouldn’t hang out with them. They’re technically correct, it’s just annoying. Still, there is a reason the wines from the Champagne region of France became synonymous with sparkling wine worldwide. They do good work. If you’re looking for an introduction to the style of the region, Nicolas Feuillatte Brut is an excellent example of a non-vintage brut that won’t break the bank. One of the key factors that sets Champagne apart from many other sparkling wines is the legally mandated bottle aging, which gives a toasty component to the aromatics, like fresh baked brioche, mixed with green apple and lemon curd.

You Need That Fancy Bottle

When a special occasion calls for dropping the big bucks, we recommend Champagne Pol Roger. Their Vintage Brut and Vintage Rosé, as well as the legendary Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill are sure to impress any connoisseur. These wines are very limited in production and can be hard to find, so ask your trusted wine professional!

You're A Wild Card

We know you. You want to bring something to the party nobody else is bringing. Preferably something nobody’s even heard of. Look no further than Francois Montand Brut Rose. This winery, located in the Jura mountains, in eastern France, specializes in traditional method sparkling wines. Their Brut Rose is made of Grenache and Cinsault, two grapes commonly found in still rose wine, but considerably less commonly used to make bubbles. This wine is relatively deep in color as rose goes, and with that color comes depth of flavor, dominated by clean, dry red fruit flavors.

When It's A Day Ending in Y

You can’t have bubbles for every occasion if you don’t have them on hand at home, right? And you want value and reliability with your everyday wines. Say hello to Barefoot Bubbly Brut Cuvee. Barefoot Bubbly Brut is crisp and dry, with flavors of green apple and lemon peel. Don’t let a special occasion creep up on you, keep some Barefoot Bubbly around the house!
