CSB Story

Craig Stein founded C. Stein Distributing, Inc. in Washington State on May 14, 1990, when he purchased Cascade Distributing in Vancouver, WA. C. Stein Distributing, Inc. started with 11 employees.

Since 1990 C. Stein Distributing, Inc. has been aggressively growing its distribution business and has made significant acquisitions to build its beer, wine, spirits, soft drink, and non-alcohol brand families in Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, and Idaho. In 1998, C. Stein Beverage Group (CSBG) was founded and Spirit Distributing Company in Boise, ID was purchased.

In March 2008, CSBG purchased the Coors Distributing Company (CDC) in Meridian, ID. The CDC and Spirit Distributing companies were consolidated into a new company, Idaho Distributing Company. Nouveaux Distributing of Sun Valley was purchased in 2007. In 2010, the Idaho ROCKSTAR brand was purchased. In June 2012, C. Stein Distributing, Inc. began selling spirits in SW WA. The company’s name was changed to CSB (Craig Stein Beverage) in 2013. In September 2013, CSB began selling soft drinks (DPSG) in Eastern Idaho and Wyoming. In October 2016, CSBG acquired Owyhee Distributing in Nyssa, OR. In April 2017, CSB acquired Click Distributing and shortly after created a joint venture with The Odom Corporation to create NW Beverages. This venture allowed CSB and Odom to offer beverage distribution in the states of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.

CSB, an Idaho corporation wholly owned by CEO Craig Stein, is the parent company of CSB Washington in Vancouver, WA; CSB Idaho in Boise, ID; CSB Sun Valley, in Ketchum, ID; and CSB Owyhee in Eastern Oregon.

As a result of CSB’s growth, the company is one of the largest beer, wine and non-alcohol distributors in the Northwest and Intermountain market areas. CSB employs approximately 400 associates.

In March 2011, exciting changes were made to the CSB Executive Team. Craig Stein assumed the CEO position. Dennis McAuliff was promoted to President/COO. Rob Sims advanced to Director of Operations and Darin Hager was named Corporate Director of IT/Purchasing. In May 2018, CSB added the position of Corporate Director of Business Development and Terry Lawler was promoted to fill the position.
