Pumpkin Spiced Isn’t So Nice? Try These Alternatives

Fall is all about pumpkins, pumpkins, and pumpkins. But what about our other favorite fall tropes like apples, pecans, or chai? Personally, I prefer to keep the Great Pumpkin on the porch and out of my beers. Check out these fall inspired beers that will put you in the holiday spirits:

Black Raven Brewing Co. – Festivus Holiday Ale

Brewed in the holiday spirit with cranberries, various citrus peel fruit and a brewer’s secret blend of spices. Won 1st place in the 2011 WA Winter Beer Festival People’s Choice Saturday.

Deschutes Brewery – Jubelale

Cozy up fireside with this festive winter ale full of spice notes and a robust malt character of toffee and dusted cocoa.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery – Suddenly Comfy Cream Ale

Brewed with fresh apple cider, Saigon cinnamon and Madagascar vanilla beans, this Imperial Cream Ale is made with all the fixings of a great apple pie … just like grandma used to make

Founders Brewing Co. – Underground Mountain Brown

A truly unique brown ale that can only be achieved by the combination of Founders imperial brown ale, Sumatra coffee, and a year aging in caves below Grand Rapids.

Great Divide Brewing Company – S’mores Yeti

Ok, s’mores are a summer thing but who wouldn’t want to reminiscence about the good warm days in the middle of winter? Enjoy all the tastes of the classic campsite dessert blended with the rich, roasty malt flavor of Yeti Imperial Stout. A beer for telling tales and creating new ones.

Left Hand Brewing – Chai Milk Stout Nitro

Put down that Chai latte and pick up some chai milk stout. Brewed with cloves, ginger, and spices this beer is sure to warm you from the inside out.

Pfriem Family Brewers – Maple Barrel Aged Smoked Porter

Opulent aromas of vanilla, candied walnuts, bourbon-spiked coffee and maple cookies entice investigation. Flavors of pecan pie baking atop a wood burning stove, rich toffee and dark chocolate delight the palate before giving way to a warming, decadent finish.

Pfriem Family Brewers – Winter Ale

Bright tawny amber with an off-white head. Fruity aroma with a touch of spice; waftings of fresh baked fruitcake with a touch of spruce tree. Rich bold flavors of hops and malt meld with a touch of orange zest and huckleberries. The finish leaves the mouth covered with a trace of caramel, cut by an assertive hoppiness.

Samuel Adams – Winter Lager

A German inspired wheat bock brewed with cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel for a deep flavor and malty finish. A classic winter brew.

Trap Door Brewing – Midnite Snack

Santa doesn’t need any cookies by the tree this year. This milk stout is “dry-hopped” with over 200 lbs of Oreos and conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans and cacao nibs.
